Anne MacDonald has built her career on a deep commitment to serving patients and supporting the paramedics who care for them. With experience that spans frontline work as an Advanced Care Paramedic, leadership in dispatch, and senior operational roles, she brings a comprehensive understanding of the EMS system. Her diverse background enables her to connect the realities of frontline care with the complexities of system leadership, ensuring decisions are informed by both the impact to the people and operational needs.

As Executive Director of Emergency Health Services Operations for Alberta, Anne leads with a people-first approach. She is dedicated to fostering a culture where paramedics, emergency communications officers, and support staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to deliver exceptional care. She believes that staff wellbeing is foundational to system performance, and her leadership reflects a balance of operational excellence and genuine care for the individuals who make that excellence possible.

Throughout her career, Anne has championed initiatives to improve response times, expand community coverage, and streamline processes that better support frontline teams. She is passionate about collaboration, innovation, and building strong relationships that strengthen EMS locally and nationally.

In her role on the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada Board, Anne is proud to represent her colleagues and advocate for the voices of frontline providers, dispatch teams, and leaders. Her vision is to help shape a resilient, compassionate, and sustainable EMS system, one where staff wellbeing and patient care remain at the heart of every decision.
