Paramedic Chiefs of Canada (PCC)
E-bulletin – September 2025
PCC Board Vacancies
The PCC currently has two vacancies on the Board of Directors. The Alberta board seat and the regional seat representing Ontario and Quebec are currently open. Per our bylaws – Where the position of a director becomes vacant and there is quorum of directors, the Board may appoint a qualified individual to fill the vacancy until the next Annual Meeting of Members. As the Board currently has representation from each province and territory and given the significant interest in Board positions we saw during our call for nominations this past May, these seats will remain vacant until our nominations and subsequent elections take place in May of 2026. A current list of our Board members and the seat they represent can be found here: https://www.paramedicchiefs.ca/meet-the-board-of-directors/
In accordance with our bylaws, Ryan Sneath, Deputy Chief with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service has assumed the role of PCC President until our May 2026 elections. A big thank you to Ryan for his leadership and commitment during this time of transition. For now, the Vice Presidency will remain vacant until our Executive and Board have had the opportunity to discuss this in more detail.
Canadian Study of Violence Against Paramedics (CSVAP)
The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada (PCC) and the Paramedic Association of Canada (PAC) have launched the Canadian Study of Violence Against Paramedics (CSVAP). The study is possible due to the financial support of the Canadian Safety & Security Program / Defence Research & Development Canada (CSSP-DRDC).
The purpose of the study is to collect the data necessary to fill the present gap in knowledge about violence against paramedics in Canada, the context of such incidents, and the impact these incidents have on the mental health and wellbeing of paramedics and their families. We are seeking PCC members assistance in distributing this survey within your respective services: https://uwaterloo.ca/statistical-consulting-survey-research-unit/canadian-study-violence-against-paramedics Thank you in advance for assisting us with this important project. We look forward to sharing the results of this study with you.
