E-bulletin – October 2025

PCC – Advocacy

On October 21st, Bill S-233 (An Act to amend the Criminal Code (assault against persons who provide health services and first responders) had its third reading in the senate. It has been passed and will now move on to the House for consideration. It is encouraging to see the momentum on this important issue. A link to the bill can be found here: https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bill/45-1/s-233

The PCC Board will be on the hill in Ottawa November 18th and will be well positioned to advocate for this via meetings with key government officials. Our key asks of the federal government are focused on Caring for the Frontline, Relieving the Pressure, and Expanding Patient Care.  We will share our advocacy asks with you once finalized and the outcomes of our meetings with the government.

Canadian Paramedic Research Day (CanPRd)

The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada are pleased to announce our partnership with the CanPRD.

For four years, the Canadian Paramedicine Research Day has held a national, virtual research conference on the Thursday of Paramedic Services Week in May. During this time, the conference has become the largest paramedic research conference in North America with over 2,100 registrants. CanPRD has also developed a unique conference identity to promote original research related to paramedicine in Canada and to deliver content relevant to front-line providers.

This partnership will bring CanPRD under the administrative umbrella of the PCC to provide a structured process for members of the steering committee to be assigned time for their duties and ensure inclusivity of Canadian Paramedic Services across the country. The PCC is excited to partner with this national conference that directly aligns with the Principles to Guide the Future of Paramedicine in Canada to participate in research, contribute to research efforts, and build research capacity within services.
