PCC Leadership Summit June 10th-12th,2025  Winnipeg, Manitoba

Planning for the annual PCC Leadership Summit is well underway. We are pleased to offer a reduced registration rate to PCC members of $895.00 – a reduction of $100.00. The Summit program provides a platform for sharing information and best practices. The call for speakers has been distributed and we encourage submissions covering topics related to (but not limited to) Leadership, Research, Paramedic Health and Wellness, Innovation and Technology, and Workplace Culture. Proposals must include the title of your session, length of presentation and a brief synopsis of your speaking topic. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please send it to speakers@paramedicchiefs.ca. Summit registration and additional information will be made available in January 2025.

Defence Research Development Canada (DRDC) Innovation Day – “Connecting the Operational and Research Communities to Improve Public Safety Outcomes” – January 29th, 2025

The 2025 Preparedness, Resilience & First Responder (PRFR) Innovation Day will highlight the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) work within PRFR priority areas. This event will facilitate networking between first responder leadership and other partners/stakeholders and enhance the understanding of requirements and gaps for future grants. Invitations will be extended to external partners including federal, provincial/territorial, municipal governments, Indigenous organizations, as well as relevant Canadian and international organizations including industry and academia. Paramedic representatives attending will augment support within the DRDC towards Paramedic related studies. Nova Scotia Board seat

The PCC is pleased to welcome Gord Peckham, Vice President of Operations with Emergency Medical Care, Inc to our Board of Directors. Gord has been appointed to the Nova Scotia seat on an interim basis until our Annual General Meeting in June of 2025. We look forward to working with Gord and his service.

PCC Research Webinars

The PCC would like to thank Polly Ford-Jones for her presentation on Paramedicine, Mental Health, and Crisis Calls in the Community: Highlights for Leadership last month. A recording of this session can be found at https://www.paramedicchiefs.ca/webinar-abstracts-index/. We are excited to announce the next webinar February 6th 2025, which will feature a presentation by Thérésa J. Choisi, a research advisor at Urgences-santé and a fellow with the McNally Project for Paramedicine Research. Thérésas presentation will focus on addressing mental health in EMS, providing an in-depth exploration of the innovative Preburn Project: Preventing Burnout by Predicting Compromised Wellness in EMS Workers. This session is designed for EMS directors, EMS administrators, paramedics, dispatchers, mental health professionals and researchers who are committed to improving the well-being of frontline EMS workers.
